As the industry continues its recovery, state regulators are once again focusing on the recommendations contained in the April 2007 GAO Report—Title Insurance: Actions Needed to Improve Oversight of the Title Industry and Better Protect Consumers—which encourages “strengthening the regulation of title agents through means such as establishing meaningful requirements for capitalization, licensing, and continuing education.”
Once fully established, the Academy will promote online courses created by The Koogler Group and other leading educators throughout the country. The course curriculum—scheduled to be developed over a 3-year period—includes 75 hours of online certification-level courses for title (closing) agents and title examiners. Courses relating to federal compliance and risk management issues are designed to meet or exceed federal [CFPB] compliance requirements.
